Help Joan provide a safe haven for all
Joan Sutherland, backbone of The Haven, celebrates her 70th birthday on March 26 – she is asking friends to donate in lieu of gifts.
In support of this legend, Vic Park businesses have pledged amazing prizes for her 70th Birthday Fundraiser Raffle!
The Haven is a Vic Park institution that has helped thousands – feeding 200 people daily, welcoming everyone, hosting special events like Christmas lunch, & operating an op shop.
Last year, it provided over 25,000 free meals & hampers to those in need, hosted a shower truck, laundry & healthcare services, & provided vital social support.
The Haven runs on minimal funds, relying on volunteers & community support.
Joan’s day starts at 7am, preparing breakfast for The Haven’s guests, & ends around 6pm. On special days, like Christmas lunch, she works 5am to 5pm.
Prior to opening The Haven Centre, Joan volunteered for literal decades. She has worked in indigenous communities, running women’s refuges, & has been a foster carer.
This raffle is a way to recognise the incredible work she does, with a chance to win awesome prizes. All funds raised go to operating costs for The Haven.
